X-Men First Class

Hey all!
Hope you had a relaxing weekend. One of us has to lol… I’m running around checking out these movies for you so there’s no rest for ya boy. Work must be done. I managed to catch X-Men: First Class for you, and I have to say it was entertaining.
As the title suggests, the movie introduces you to the first class of the mutant team, the X-Men. There are some familiar names (i.e. Charles Xavier a.k.a Prof. X, Erik Lehnsher a.k.a Magneto, Hank McCoy a.k.a Beast, and Raven Darkholme a.k.a Mystique), some not so familiar faces such as Emma Frost from the Wolverine Origins movie, and some new faces as well.

The movie itself starts off following the very different paths of Professor X and Magneto as the grow up through World War II and how they’re paths unite against a common enemy, Sebastian Shaw (played very well by Philly’s own Kevin Bacon).

I thought the movie was a very interesting fantasy time piece, fitting the X-Men around the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Although the comic series timeline has been thoroughly punished by the X-men movies (which they really need to work out for the fans’ sake), it was still a very enjoyable movie. The main thing that got me interested in the film, was the introduction of some new characters and a highly anticipated Wolverine cameo. I’m interested in seeing where they take the story now as a result.

So if your going to watch the movie, view it as interesting storytelling that exists in it’s own universe. If you view it comparing it to the comic timeline, you will… I repeat… you will be annoyed. So just sit back, relax, and let the director tell you a new story on the origins of the X-men.

Final Verdict: Go see it in the theaters! 🙂
