The Force was not strong with this one…

Take your seats, class is in session.

Don’t worry, this won’t be a long one today, since it’s Halloween. It’s also going to be short because the Professor is pissed at this game and doesn’t care to give it too much of his time. I’ll say this to get it out of the way: I never trade games in, I usually keep them. This one will be traded in next week when I pick up Call of Duty: Black Ops.
So, we have here Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. A fairly highly anticipated sequel, at least for me. I liked the first one a lot. Yeah, it was kind of repetitive, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. And, it had a fair amount of game play time. Let’s remember that. A FAIR amount of game play time.
You can see my review on the demo from a little bit ago, just down the page here. My review of the demo was pretty sparkling, really. The demo made it look like this game was going to rock pretty hard. The demo was misleading.
The story was decent. It held its fair share of mystery. The graphics, flat out awesome. Some of the game play ideas were really cool too. This time around, you can customize the lightsabers individually as far as colors go, and each color provides you a different ability. You couldn’t customize the hilts again, but that’s ok. Running around with two different color lightsabers was cool enough for me. It has your ending choice again, light side or dark side, both with fairly cool stories to them. So at this point, you may be asking: if all this stuff was good, why did you not like it?
Simple. Game play time. I think I got about 6 hours total before it was already over. I bought it over lunch on Friday, started playing around 7 or 8 Friday night, and was finished Saturday morning. I didn’t even get a full weekend out of it. I didn’t even get a full day out of it. I’m sorry, it could be the coolest game ever made, but if I can’t get more than half a day’s worth of game play out of it, it ain’t worth it. Disappointing, I really wanted to love this game because I really do like the Starkiller character.
They have very clearly set it up for a 3rd, I guess to completely the obligatory Star Wars trilogy. Either ending could lead to another game. Let’s hope they actually put some real work into the next one and make it suck much less.
Don’t take any candy from strangers, unless it’s really good candy. If it’s really good candy, beat them down and take the whole bag.
Class dismissed.
