Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2017
Greetings. I am The Fractured Analyst. I have potential news for the gaming fans out there.
There is currently a rumor that Rockstar Games, makers of the Grand Theft Auto series, will be releasing a sequel to their critically acclaimed game Red Dead Redemption sometime in 2017.
An anonymous email was sent to website Fraghero with the news. Red Dead Redemption is an open world game that was released in May of 2010. While it had much in common with Grand Theft Auto, setting the game in the old west helped it stand out. Robbing a train, outrunning a posse on horseback or pistol duels in the middle of town all made for a unique experience, which makes sense since there were no other games that took place in the wild west (or at least none that did so good of a job).
The rumor goes on to state that the new entry in the series will have multiple characters available to the player, much like players had in Grand Theft Auto V. Also, the environment that you will be playing in is supposed to be a lot bigger, but how they measure that is unknown. To me, The Witcher 3 had the largest gaming environment I have dealt with to date, so if it is as large as that or just slightly bigger than GTA V, we will have to wait and see.
The rumor also mentions that there is going to be an HD remaster of Red Dead Redemption. If the sequel is being released in 2017, this would make sense; announce the remaster at E3 and then after that drop the news of the sequel right after. The only way any of this news sucks is if it turns out to all be just what it currently is; a rumor.
It wasn’t until I saw this news late yesterday that I realized how much I want to visit this world again. I will keep my fingers crossed that this is true, but will have to wait until E3 in June to know for sure.
