Nightcrawler… Even Sociopaths Need a Career.

Have a seat everyone. Let’s make this meeting worth your while. Let’s take a look at this Crime Thriller, Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Bill Paxton.

When the movie starts, your introduced to a character that has no care at all for the people around him. Let’s say he’s a bit detatched. At this point, I’m already engaged and can’t wait to see where this story takes the character of Louis Bloom the Nightcrawler (Played by Gyllenhaal). Lou is definitely a driven man. A driven man in search of a true career path, a calling if you will. When he finds his way into the action packed world of L.A. crime journalism, we quickly find that he would do anything to be the best in the field. If you look at the trailer you can see, in his world, the lines blur quite quickly between cameraman and accessory.

Jake Gyllenhaal was brilliant as Lou Bloom. He was so detached throughout the movie, you find yourself wondering when (not if) is he going to snap. His character is calculated to a point where as a human being you question his every move, but as a businessman you can do nothing but respect his tenacity and directness. He explored levels of apathy that pushed the limits of ambition and it made the film so interesting to watch.

Overall, I think this movie is worth a view. So, grab a ticket and some friends, kick back, and enjoy the thrill ride that is Nightcrawler.
