Got a little something for you that I discovered a few hours ago thought I’d share a nice bit of cinema with you.

Recently I stumbled upon a film called the Trashmaster and, get this, it was made completely through the Grand Theft Auto IV™ game. Mathieu Weschler, and avid GTAIV enthusiast created the full-length film in two years. Using some of the characters from the game, Weschler tells a pretty decent story about a garbage man that cleans (in every sense of the word) the streets of New York City. In the film, Niko Balik is a garbage man with a failed dream to be police officer. His sense duty, however, pushes him to patrol the streets as a vigilante stopping the criminals that the police fail to apprehend. When a number of dancers are killed at a strip club that he frequents, Niko takes it upon himself to solve the case and track down the serial killer.

Initially, I have to admit, I was a little pensive as to how good this movie was going to be, but I have to say I enjoyed the hour and a half long movie. The cinematography was excellent considering the limitations of filming on a game engine. Don’t get me wrong, there are sequences that are a bit choppy at times, and the voice actors could have given a lot more to enhance the enjoyment of the story, but it’s an indie film so it’s a given that it will be a little rough around the edges. Taking into consideration the minor glitches, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would love to see this movie in a live action format. Preferably with Tony Scott directing (side note: The Trashmaster is very reminiscent of Man on Fire).

Check this film out for ya boy! 😉

The link to the film is below for you viewing pleasure. Thanks to Engadget, YourMachinima, and Rockstar Games for the heads up!
