Geek News of the Day – 3/24/2015
The Professor checking in today, dropping that knowledge and giving you the GNOD.
Viola Davis chimes in on the character attributes of Amanda Waller.
While I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of the way DC is using different actors for the same characters on the TV shows vs. the movies, the Suicide Squad movie does intrigue me. As much of a Marvel fanboy I tend to be, this one interests me more than a Sinister Six movie would. Viola Davis took some time at a recent event to talk about her character in the movie, Amanda Waller. Check it out here.
Tom 101 – How to Cruise through epic stunts.
The Boss and I spoke briefly today, both agreeing that Tom Cruise rarely makes a bad flick. What we didn’t discuss, but I’m sure we can agree on, is that the man is a psychopath. That clip of him hanging off a plane from the trailer? Yeah, he really did that. Check out his reveal of how that epic stunt was pulled off here.
Captain Marvel reveal to come in Age of Ultron!
Depending on how old you are, hearing that Captain Marvel is coming to the Marvel Big Screen Universe could mean very different things. Sorry Mar-Vell fans, the Nega-Band wearing, cosmic awareness having Kree is not the one we’ll see here. This time around it will be Carol Danvers, one time known as Ms. Marvel. While we do not know who will be playing her just yet (show me Natalie Dormer! Or Kathryn Winnick. I’m ok with either), rumor has it the character will make her introductory appearance in Age of Ultron. Check the story on Cinema Blend here.
Speaking of the Avengers…
If you’re anything like the Professor, you’ve watched Captain America 2 at least 50 times. In my opinion, it’s still the best superhero movie to date. The men behind the movie, Joe and Anthony Russo, will be taking the reigns from Joss Whedon to direct next Avengers movie, the two-parter Avengers: Infinity War. While I love me some Joss Whedon, I’m very excited to see these two behind the camera for this epic set of movies. Check out this story here.
X-Files to come back as limited series!
I admit, I never watched the X-Files when it was originally on, but I have been told on multiple occasions that I made a huge mistake. Judging by the complete geek explosion I have seen lately by this announcement, I may just have to agree. The truth is still out there, and Mulder and Scully are coming back in a six-episode limited series to prove it. Check out the full story here.
New Fant4stic Four poster
Ok, here at the Bosses’ Desk, we’re nothing if not honest. So, to be honest? I do not see this movie being very good. I would love to be wrong, but knowing what they are doing to my beloved Doctor Doom, I’m not holding out high hopes personally. That being said, this new poster is pretty sweet.
