Divining a Director
Looks like the Gambit film is off to a rocky start. The group over at Fox is having a rough time finding a director for the x-men solo film, gambit. The attempt has been made to bring on Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher), Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan & The Wrestler), Gareth Evans (The Raid), and J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year). All of these top directors declined to helmĀ the project. If the release date for the film is set for October 2016, this is not good news.
Nothing has been released as to why these directors have refused the director’s chair for this one, despite what others may say, superhero flicks are what’s making money in Hollywood right now and Channing Tatum is riding a wave of successful films right now. So, we’ll have to watch this one as it develops.
Gambit is being penned by writer Josh Zetumer (Robocop 2014) and is being produced by Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg, who have experience with most if not all of the Fox Marvel properties. The film will star Channing Tatum as the card throwing Ragin’ Cajun, Remy LeBeau a.k.a. Gambit and will hit theaters October 7, 2016.
