Civil War: Now That’s How You Trailer
Just a quick hit today class, no need to grab your seats.
It’s not often I get moved enough by a trailer to want to give it its own article, but this time around, I just have to.
Civil War is a movie that has been so looked forward to by the majority of Marvel fans, just seeing the initial trailer and teasers was enough. They gave us just enough to excite and raise that level of anticipation that what they had shown us was really enough to go on. Just enough action shown and just enough story given that attention was grabbed and money was pretty much already spent. That brief glimpse of the Black Panther. A quick clip of what looks to be an amazing fight scene featuring Iron Man going against the team of Captain America and Bucky/Winter Soldier. A shot of War Machine, down for the count, potentially permanently. It gave enough of an emotional roller-coaster sensation that any fan of the genre was way in. And even then, even when it was already enough? They gave us more. They gave us a second trailer that in all reality didn’t add a lot more footage wise, but added so, so much more substance. We get just a little more back story to the movie, a little more explanation of exactly what seems to be sparking the upheaval. We see a little more as to just why the Black Panther is going after Bucky/Winter Soldier. We get to see some of the incredible footage of the all-hero smackdown brawl that will probably take place at the height of the movie. Literally, a quick glimpse of a comic book panel completely coming to life. They gave us everything else we could have asked for without giving away the entire movie. Everything people could want to not only cement their want for this movie, but to actually make it stronger. And just when you think is over, just when you think they’ve finished, they drop the final atom bomb. They drop the ONE thing not yet seen that everyone wanted to see. They drop Spider-man. They give us a 5-10 second introduction to what is vastly considered the Marvel Universe “flagship” character who is finally back home where he belongs. Not only that, but they show us that he is finally going to be done right. The genius of adding him to this trailer? Not only does it let us see a quick glimpse of an incredibly popular character who has been pined after by Marvel fans for years, but it hypes up Civil War even further. But is that all it does? No. It also hypes up the upcoming Spider-man solo movie as well. It gives just enough to show us that this is Spider-man, this is how he SHOULD look, and his future potential is limitless. Basically? Marvel is absolutely brilliant and now has us hooked for not only Civil War, but for the future as well.
Personally, I already took the day off for Civil War and just may go see it multiple times that same day. That’s how good it looks. And I get to see Spider-man in the MCU, which just makes me happy.
Until next time (which should be sometime this weekend after I have finished bingeing Daredevil Season Two)…
Class dismissed.
I didnt even know about Civil War until I read your post and then checked out the trailer. You are right…this is one of those game changing movies and taking a day off is well justified..keep up the good work..
